1. Santa Fe Named No. 1 U.S. City for Travelers

For the first time ever, Santa Fe, New Mexico has claimed the top spot in Travel + Leisure’s 2025 “World’s Best” list, ending Charleston’s 12-year reign. Readers praised its rich arts scene, vibrant cuisine, friendly locals, and exceptional value. Impressively, it’s also the only U.S. city to make the global top 25, coming in at number 19.

Why it matters: If you're seeking culture, culinary diversity, and authentic Southwestern charm, Santa Fe’s rise signals a shift toward smaller, experience-rich destinations.

2. TSA Ends the “Shoes-Off” Rule at Airports

A major update from the TSA: as of July 8, most U.S. travelers can now keep their shoes on at security. The change is thanks to newer scanners and CT tech—a significant departure from the post-9/11 requirement. While exceptions still exist, the policy is expected to shorten wait times and streamline the travel experience.

Why it matters: No more balancing on one foot to pull shoes off—not only is this convenience great, but it also chips away at TSA PreCheck’s exclusivity since that perk is now more widely accessible.

3. Ryanair’s Summer Surge Amid Heatwave

Despite Europe’s blistering heatwave, Ryanair reports strong summer bookings, with demand especially high for vacation spots like Italy, Greece, Spain, the Balearics, Canary Islands, and Morocco. CEO Michael O’Leary confirms demand is holding firm and outlines plans to triple passenger traffic at Modlin by 2030. He also hopes to avoid new aviation tariffs.

Why it matters: Travelers aren’t backing off despite soaring temperatures. Budget airlines are thriving, and Ryanair’s growth plans signal affordable options for heat-seekers this summer.
